Handmade Web Playground

Ginny Gravity’s Pixel Galaxy is a personal website built from scratch on Neocities as an alternative to polished, platform-controlled profile pages. I designed and coded the site by hand, using HTML, CSS, jQuery, animated assets, personal artwork, photography, and evolving update logs to create a space that feels collected rather than templated.

The site draws from dense, playful old-web interfaces where windows overlap, GIFs move, sidebars compete for attention, and discovery matters more than frictionless conversion. The challenge was preserving that handmade abundance while maintaining usable navigation, readable content areas, layered window behavior, and a reduced mobile experience.

I created a multi-page frontend with artwork and photography galleries, an archive, project pages, a GIF collection, update feeds, and embedded micro-experiences. The homepage includes draggable and closable windows, dynamic stacking order, randomized iframe content, collapsible entries, desktop and mobile navigation, and custom styling built without a site generator or visual page builder.

The result is a personal publishing space that communicates my visual identity more directly than a conventional portfolio or link page could. It demonstrates hand-authored frontend fundamentals, interaction design, content organization, and the ability to turn intentionally chaotic references into a coherent, navigable environment.
